Sikhi

Sikhi which is commonly referred as Sikhism in European Countries is the the fifth largest religion with around 25 - 30 million followers worldwide. The word Sikhi is derived from the word Sikh which is used to represent the disciple/follower. It means learning, a Guru Teach and a Sikh learn. In Sikhi Guru is Teacher and Sikh is a Student. Sikhi was founded by Nanak currently known as Sache Patshah Guru Nanak Sahib Ji Maharaj, who was born on 15 April 1469 in Rai Bhoi di Talwandi, Delhi Sultanate currently known as Nankana Sahib after Guru Nanak in Punjab Province of Pakistan.

The Sikh follows the Gur Gaddi (Guru ship) of eleven Gurus. The first ten Gur Gaddis were held by Human Gurus, starting with Guru Nanak and ending with Guru Gobind Singh. last and current Gur Gaddi is held by two Gurus: Guru Granth Sahib, the sacred scripture, and Guru Panth Sahib, representing the collective body of the Sikh community.

Sikhi is a monotheistic Religion. Sikh believes that One God is creator and nourisher of all. Sikh consider whole Human Race as one and everyone equal. Sikhism gives women equal rights in every aspect and field.

Sikh literature consist of Granths, Janamsakhis, Hukamnamas, Rehitnamas, Pothis, Books etc. Sikh have three main Granths named Adi Granth, Which is current Living Sikh Guru Guru Granth Sahib, Dasam Granth, the Granth of Tenth Master, and Sarabloh Granth, The Granth of Pure Iron.

Sikh Panth have suffered greatly by Persecution, Massacre and Genocide by many subsequent regimes, like Mughals, Afghans, Marathas, British, India, Pakistan, Afghanistan. Sikh have been nearly completely wiped out many times. Sikh are nearly wiped out in Pakistan and Afghanistan and on verge in India.

Sikh Military was established by Guru Arjan Dev and strengthened by Guru Hargobind as Akal Sena(God's Army) to protect the Sikh Panth from Persecution. Its current form is a result of a Major Reorganization by Guru Gobind Singh as Khalsa or Akal Purakh ki Fauj (Army of God). It has gone under some minor reorganization and was part of many Wars

After the forming the military Sikh Guru led Sikh in multiple wars, all defensive except Battle of Chamkaur, which was only offensive battle led by Living Gurus. Under the Guidance of Guru Granth and by the decision of Guru Panth Sikh have Participated in Many Wars.

Sikh have their own Language with a complete script, called Gurmukhi meaning from the Mouth of Guru. It was created by Second Guru Angad Dev. All Sikh scripture and Literature is Written in this Script.

Sikh have their own National Symbol given to them by the Guru's. Sikh have their own National Flag, National Bird, Currency, Calendar, State Emblem, Throne, Capital City, and Sovereign.

There are various Sikh Institute created from the time of Human Gurus and Subsequently by Sikhs like Akal Takht, Toshakhana, Langar Khana, Saravan, Gurdwara, Khalsa Collage to name a few.

Sikh Panth have many Organisation created to fulfill a certain task for the community. Sikh Organization like Budha Dal, Tarna Dal, Damdami Taksal, Akali Dal.

The Sikh hade three Empire and various kingdoms spanned through 18th to 20th century. The First one being First Sikh Empire created by Baba Banda Singh Bahadur, and last being Kingdom of Patiala and 8 other smaller kingdom which were assimilated in Indian Union in 1948.

Sikh Morcha's or Movements are movement for freedom and Equal Rights started with Annexation of Sikh Empire of Maharaja Ranjit Singh by British and then against Modern Democracies.
